12 days left

12 Days left till we leave for our trip to Brazil. All of us are really exited for our trip. We want to inform you what we are going to do in Brazil. First of all you may want to know where in Brazil we are going. We are going to be in the state of Piaui. For 2.5 days we will stay in a town called Demerval Lobão. It is 30km south of Teresina which is the capital of Piaui. On the 6th of January we will go farther south to a town called Barão de Grajaú. This town is not anymore in the state of Piaui but right across the boarder in the state of Maranhão. There we will join a group of University students from the São Paulo area. We will work together with them for 10 days. In those 10 days we will do all kind of work like VBS, evangelical work on the street, building doors and windows and other jobs like that. After those 10 days we don't know yet what we will do. There is at least two options. The first would be to stay there with the missionaries and help them or to go back to the town of Demerval Lobão. We will work together with a swiss mission organization called SAM (Swiss Alliance Mission) and a project called Agua Viva (Living Water). The project is the organization of the students that are coming from the south of Brazil. The homepages of both organization don't have english translation. The SAM homepage has German/Franch and the Living Water has just portuguese. But still we want to post the links to those homepages. For SAM klick here and for Living Water klick here.
We hope to keep you updated through out our trip. Thank you for your interest.

Thank You God

Thank You oh Lord for providing our Visas that fast. And thank you all who were praying for it.
We were suppose to receive our passports back at the end of the month and we already got them today. It took the consulate just one day to go through our visas  and now we got them in a week back. Thank you so much God.

!!Prayer request!!

We got some issues with the passports we sent in for the tourist visas for Brazil. We received them back this last Wednesday without the visas. The reason was that we didn't provide enough information about what we are going to do in Brazil. We sent them off today again after we could get as much as information as possible. Please pray that our passports get back to us on time with the visas. Everything is in God's hands and we have to trust a 100% in Him now.
Thank you for praying

Preparation

It has already been two months since we were all put together as a team. The work is going well and the team is growing closer and closer. We are in our final steps of getting the tourist visas and we are currently trying to learn the portuguese language, so that we can communicate as best as we can with the brazilians. We are also preparing a presentation about Brazil that we will share with our classmates before we leave for our trip.
Another part of our preparations is fundraising. We will be having a fundraiser event called Meatballs for Missions on the 27th of November. It will start at 11am and it goes till 2pm. We want to invite you to join us here at CLBI for that lunch and to get to know our group personally.

Bom dia (Good day)

Hi there
Welcome to our blog. In this blog we are going to post our experience, prayer requests and pictures. We hope that we can upload on a regular bases about our news, because the access to the internet will not be easy all the time. In our teams we have Steven Dahl, Karina Nottveit, Lila Gaertner, Victoria Iverson, Joel Roggensinger.
Here are some words from them.
Joel (Team leader):
I guess the most important things about me right now are: I'm swiss and grew up in Brazil, I love to play soccer and I'm exited to go with my team to Brazil to work together with my parents.
Lila (Treasurer):
I'm so exited for this trip!!!!! I've never been out of Canada and have never been on a plane before, so I can imagine this trip will be one to remember!
Steven (Medical Manager):
I'm mostly pretty chill, like to play lots of guitar and love to hang out and have fun.
The two others of team will post their information in a later post.
